Break Bulk Operations in Action: Moving 1,100 Tons Through Chennai Port
1,100 tons of breakbulk cargo, a Sunday vessel berthing, and 40 lorries to coordinate — here’s how AREM Logistics kept the movement running from ship’s hook to final delivery without unnecessary delays.
Scale that demanded precise coordination
Approximately 1,100 tons of breakbulk cargo had to be moved off the vessel and onto the road — and simply arranging vehicles for a load of that scale was not enough on its own.
With the vessel berthing on a Sunday and unloading operations commencing shortly after, transportation had to be paced to match the speed of discharge at the quay, rather than run on a separate schedule of its own.
The availability of 40 lorries, port operations, cargo handling, documentation and customs clearance all had to stay aligned at the same time — because a delay in any single part of the operation risked slowing the movement of the entire shipment.

Coordinated on the ground, from ship’s hook to final delivery

The team maintained on-ground coordination throughout the operation, working closely with the port, transport and cargo-handling teams so that no single link in the chain got ahead of — or fell behind — the rest.
40 lorries were coordinated to move the cargo from the port to the customer’s delivery location, while the team supervised the movement on the ground to keep the operation progressing smoothly.
Alongside transportation, AREM handled the required documentation and customs clearance, while coordinating manpower and equipment to match the pace of unloading — connecting every stage from the moment cargo left the vessel to the moment it reached its final delivery point.
1,100 tons, moved without delay

The operation progressed with every moving part working in coordination — from vessel unloading and port handling through to transportation and final delivery.
With 40 lorries on the road, on-ground supervision at every stage, and customs and documentation support running in parallel, AREM Logistics kept the movement organised and the cargo flowing throughout the operation.
1,100 tons. 40 lorries. One coordinated movement.
For AREM Logistics, moving cargo at scale is about more than arranging transport. It’s about keeping every part of the operation — port, transport, customs and documentation — moving in step.
